Spurred on by things like the Mitxela clock, and Jeff Geerlings time projects, I wanted a GPS driven NTP clock on my network.
THe first decision was what GPS receiver to user. Base on my research, the ublox receivers are considered the best - specifically their time oriented modules.
I opted to go for a LEA-M8T module, obtained on eBay. The boards in particular supposedly come from Huawei mobile phone base stations.
THe antenna connector on these boards isn’t what is on most antennas, so I had a few options: buy an antenna with the appropriate connector (difficult), reterminate an antenna (difficult) or purchase an adapter cable (possible signal loss). I went for the adapter cable, as this may also help with mounthing the pi and ublox board in an enclosure - the adapter cable could be mounted on the enclosure.
Fortunately after mentioning it on Mastodon, I was provided with a schematic and pinout for the board!
THe next complexity was the low pitch connector that the board uses - its not 2.54mm pitch. Once again a
